"Pride and Prejudice" Satire
On page 32, Mr. Bennet says "if your daughter should have a dangerous fit of illness, if she should die, it would be a comfort to know that it was all in pursuit of Mr. Bingley, and under your orders." Mr. Bennet is ok with the fact that Jane would be sent on horseback when it was raining because she could possibly get sick and therefore stay a few days longer with Mr. Bingley. This is an example of satire because he "wants her to get sick" so she can stay longer but actually she could possibly die of an illness. Mr. Bennet is kind of saying this statement that is "overkill" because it makes it sound like it is a good thing but this situation could prove deadly.
